The following procedure should be used by the firm to account and recognize for all the sales of the company. Overview of the revenue cycle To ensure success and efficiency of the companys success , the following steps should be taken. Due to the recent ransom ware outbreak, the company should take appropriate steps to ensure that the companys data is protected from these type of attacks (Orvis, 2006). First, is the sales order entry procedure. This involves processing customers orders in an organized and efficient manner to ensure that that there is prompt and accurate shipment. The second step is point of sale orders procedure. In this step the organization should ensure that they provide POS point of sales procedures to guarantee that the postings of the sales correctly have an effect on inventory and cash. However, there should be authorizations and proper reviews by the stores manager (Lirov, 2007). The third step is customer credit approval and terms procedure,: The company should take this step with the seriousness it deserves because it is at this step that potential collection problems are reduced. Any new customer will be evaluated before any credit extension is approved. .the organization should outline clear guidelines on how potential customers get credit approvals before sales orders are consummated (Revenue cycle management toolkit, 2008). The fourth step in the cycle is sales order acceptance procedure. This sis meant to ensure that the company provides the highest levels of service to its customers and also minimizing any problems coming from the orders. Thus, the recommendation is that the company should verify all orders before they are consummated. The fifth step is shipment to the customer followed by invoicing which should be done in a timely manner to ensure that the customers make timely payments. Revenue cycle risks There are several risks that are associated with the revenue cycle. These include ensuring that there is accuracy of sales and authorization. The organization should ensure that prices are correctly quoted and they follow the pricing policy of the organization (Julisch Kruegel, 2005). Another risk associated with the revenue cycle is reviewing how credit terms are extended to customers who pose a credit risk to the company. Another risk is making sure that during shipment , the goods are not delivered to the wrong person or company. Thus the organization should ensure that they get the correct address of the customer. Other risks include sales to customers with poor credit, shipping errors, theft of inventory, failure to bill customers, billing errors, theft of cash among others (Mesa Graziano Holtzman, 2005). Specific internal controls that could be implemented The organization should set up an independent credit approval function that also deals with good customer accounting to prevent selling to customers with a poor credit history. For the organization to prevent shipping errors it should reconcile the picking tickets, data entry controls , bar code scanners with the shipping notices (Julisch Kruegel, 2005). Other internal controls that should be put in place to reduce theft of inventory and inaccurate records include putting measures to ensure good accountability, secure inventory and frequently reconcile the physical count of the goods with the records. The internal control that preventys failure to bill customers is that the organization should ensure that shipping and billing should be carried out at the same time. Also, the organization should ensure that they reconcile all the sales documents and pre number the shipping documents (Bu?schkes Laskov, n.d.). Theft of cash is reduced by separating duties and assigning separate officers to undertake handling cash and posting of accounts to different individuals. Deposit the cash from sales instantly to the bank and bank reconciliation to be done by a non cash handler. Loss of data is reduced by regular off site and on site backup. Ransom ware attack Ransom ware is malicious software that threatens to block access to the victims data and publish the data to the public unless some ransom is paid. The software varies from simple to complex. While the simple ransom ware is easy to reverse especially for a knowledgeable person, there is a more complex and advanced ransom ware known as crypto viral extortion which makes an organizations files inaccessible by encrypting the victims files (Graham, 2008). A victim cannot recover their data without using a generated key that is only given after payment of ransom in form of bitcoins amd Ukash which makes its difficult to trace the perpetrators. Conclusion in conclusion, an organization can prevent its data from ransom ware attacks by backing up all the organizations information in a completely different system. Second, the staff should always be wary of suspicious websites, emails and apps and lastly using an effective and up to date antivirus. Wellness plan Essay Example For Students

Wellness plan Essay Quiz 2 I would recommend a lot of changes for this patient, including exercise, change of diet, and cessation of his smoking habit, to name a few. This patient should use a lumbar support pillow in his chair at work, as well as a foot support, to alleviate strain on his lower back form sitting all day. I would recommend that he quit smoking and change his diet to one containing less fatty foods, and much less cholesterol. The pain he feels in his neck could be partially attributed to high cholesterol. A baseline cholesterol reading should be taken and a diet recommended according to how high the level is, and how quickly it should be reduced. We will write a custom essay on Wellness plan specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now The cholesterol reading can be taken at the same time he is administered a full physical. The patient should then be instructed to have a full physical done yearly, or at least every other year, since problems can and will develop faster the more he ages. Cessation of smoking will also help to lower the patients LDL reading. A reduced calorie and reduced fat diet should help to burn off some of the extra pounds that the patient is carrying around. It might also be recommended that he cut out the nightly beer in order to reduce those added empty calories from his diet as well. Drinking does not have to be completely cut out of his diet, however, since there have been studies showing drinking in moderation can be good for your health. He should change the beer to wine, which typically tends to be healthier, and people are more apt to sip wine, as they are to guzzle beer, so less will probably be drank with that subtle change. The whiskey should probably be cut out all together, and the total reduction in alcohol consumption will help to reduce alcohol related heart and liver trouble, as well as calorie intake. It may be suggested that the patient not necessarily cut out the TV watching, but rather tow an exercise machine of some sort in front of the TV and fulfill his exercise quota in the time that he would normally be idle on the couch. This would make good use of his idle time, also cutting out the possibility of the patient using lack of time to exercise for an excuse. If the patients cholesterol was found to be high in the baseline draw of blood. It would be wise to take a LDL level every month, until the level begins to fall and then every several months until it is within normal range. It would then be advisable to take a LDL level with each physical. Further suggestions for change of lifestyle, and/or diet should be made if the LDL level is not falling at the rate you expect, or not falling at all. Bibliography: n/a .

7 Ways to Determine the Person to Provide You with Professional Academic Writing

7 Ways to Determine the Person to Provide You with Professional Academic Writing 7 Ways to Determine the Person to Provide You with Professional Academic Writing The life of a student can be overwhelming. Suddenly, you have more tasks to do, and less time to for them. You haven’t been getting enough sleep and you’ve been neglecting social time with friends. You’ve finally decided that it’s time to hire a professional writer to help you with your academic paper. Unfortunately, you may find that seeking out and hiring the right professional writer is almost as much work as writing the paper yourself! The Internet turns up pages of results when you are looking for a professional academic writer. You’re probably wondering how you can narrow them down. And how do you know which ones are reputable, and which will just take your money and supply you with a low-quality work? We’re here to make this task easier for you. Here are the things that you need to look at while seeking out someone to help you with professional academic writing. 1. A College Degree It’s not hard to post something online that declares you as a professional writer. Anyone can do that. And while a college degree does not automatically mean that someone is a good writer, you do want someone who is well versed in the requirements of academia and can prove that he/she has already mastered them. 2. Certifications Most professional writers have engaged in some kind of advanced coursework or have taken on challenges that resulted in awards or certificates. Don’t hesitate to ask candidates whether they have any of these. 3. Samples There is no more genuine proof of what a writer can do than actual samples of his/her works. It’s easy for anyone to tell you what they have accomplished, but more impressive if they can actually show them to you. 4. Curiosity Always ask the candidate whether they have any questions due to the job. If they don’t, that should be a red flag. A candidate who has no thoughts or ideas about the project probably sees it as nothing more than a quick way to make a few bucks. You want someone who actually cares about the work and asks questions to determine how to accomplish it. 5. Ability to Meet Deadlines Let’s face it: you’re hiring the person purposely because you have some difficulties meeting your deadlines. If they can’t accomplish this most basic requirement, nothing else really matters. If possible, talk to other clients of this particular writer and find out how timely he/she is in completing tasks. 6. Guaranteed Originality It’s easy to copy something from a website or use a paper that was previously used by another student. Hey, you could even do that yourself. But, with the prevalence of plagiarism detecting software, you can’t afford this kind of rookie mistake. Make sure that your candidate can guarantee 100% original work. 7. Clear and Fair Payment Terms The terms of your contract should be clearly stated up front. There should be no ambiguity about the deadlines or the price. Verify how the writer expects to be paid: by the hour, by the word, or by the essay? You must clearly understand his terms so you won’t get any surprises. Also be wary of writers who demand that you pay them before they have done any work. Payment should be rendered only after you get tangible results. Take these as your guide, and there is no doubt that you will find a writer who can be a great support to you.

Relationship between Organizational Culture, Leadership Behaviour and Essay

Relationship between Organizational Culture, Leadership Behaviour and Job Satisfaction - Essay Example Approaches to Research In my career as a student, I have had a little scope to perform researches and therefore had limited knowledge in the field. From this particular module, emphasising on the various approaches used in a research purpose, especially those regarding cultural issues, I was able to come across multiple facts which will surely help me in my future endeavours in the field of academic researches. Research is defined as the expansion of knowledge and/or the use of existing information as a resourceful way in generating new concepts. From my learning, I understood that the collected data are implemented or used in the research process through certain approaches which are often regarded to be the strategies or steps through which the collected data are used systematically. In my study to this particular module, I learnt that the approaches to research, especially those concerning cultural differences, are categorised into four different phases such as separation, encultur ation, assimilation and integration or pluralism while elaborating on the issue. With regards to my module learning, I was able to define the separation approach as a process to identify the individualistic behaviour of restraining own cultures and desires from being influenced by others. Through enculturation approach, I have been able to notice those groups’ practices in which the members keep hold of their primary rules and behaviours, without incorporating other sets of value system from differing ethnic rudiments (Kim & et. al., 2009). Similarly, with the help of assimilation approach, I gained knowledge regarding certain measures to cooperate with the superior culture in order to gain confidence from them for future career developments. From the discussion with regards to integration or pluralism approach, I learnt that it reveals the strategies of managing the cultural diversification and therefore I would categorise the approach as a more practical and objective-orien ted one (Berry, 2011). After gaining an in-depth knowledge regarding the approaches, I can state that the integration, often regarded as pluralism approach, is the most realistic research method which motivated me to work in a group with different cultured members. I also learnt that research focusing on the identification and evaluation of cultural differences are often based on theoretical pursuits, such as those inscribed by Trompenaar and Hall. The theoretical explanation presented by Hall upon the cultural differences helped me to understand the levels or dimensions present within the culture. The theory focuses on the cultural differences in terms of social level, personal freedom and time management as well. From the lecture class, I was also able to gather adequate information that along with the levels of culture, the personal attitude related to liberty and time management also leads to diversification of culture within the environment (Nardon & Steers, 2004). I further le arnt that from a similar perspective, Trompenaar presented the theoretical concept stating the differences of culture with the help of seven dimensions. From the Trompenaar’s theory, I learnt that five of the factors deal with the people’s relationship amid the society and the remaining two factors helped me to indicate the time management

Tourism and the Economy Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Tourism and the Economy - Research Paper Example What are the strategies important for the development of tourism industry? What are the factors that may influence the growth tourism industry? Literature review Economic importance of tourism industry According to UNWTO (1) â€Å"In 2011, international tourism receipts exceeded US$ 1 trillion for the first time, up from US$ 928 billion in 2010.† Tourism industry as a growing service sector is diversified and includes hotels, airlines and other transportation, resorts, parks, shopping malls, motels and entertainment venues. It could be observed from the World Tourism Barometer furnished by UNWTO (2), that the growth of tourism industry in BRIC countries has been phenomenal during the year 2011 with Brazil at 29.5% (Rank from 18 to 12), Russia at 22.1% (9 to 7), India at 32.9% (24 to 22) and China at 32.2% (no change) with US and Euro zone though positive with less than 10% growth. Growth of tourism is largely linked to recent economic growth in these economies. For some small countries like Singapore, Dubai and Fiji, tourism industry is the major source of foreign exchange. Tourism sector plays an important role in employment generation. UNWTO (3) stated â€Å"Participants at a major United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD XIII) have underscored the role of tourism as a vital service sector, contributing to GDP and employment in developed and developing countries alike.† Stability and growth in earnings in this sector would lend flexibility in management of balance of payments position of a country, if the potential of this industry is recognized and necessary initiatives taken by the government for its growth. Development of tourism industry The growth in international trade and businesses due to globalization is closely linked to the development of tourism industry. The tourism industries of emerging economies like China and India have been benefited greatly by industrial developments. However, marketing in respect of individu al companies in the industry should be backed up with effective planning and establishment of standards and communication facilities for sustainable future growth. The standards adopted in the industry and the categorization of customers or services offered underwent significant changes over time. Sharpley and Telfer (2008, p. 27) stated â€Å"Approaches to tourism development, then, have evolved over time from traditional, modernist economic growth models through to sustainable approaches that attempt to balance tourism as a profit-driven, resource-hungry activity with the developmental needs of destination environments and communities.† Diversity in workplace is very important for meeting the demands of the customers with different cultural and social backgrounds. The unique feature of this industry is that the languages spoken and customs, habits and behaviors of the customers vary significantly. Also, the types of services offered are multifarious from catering and lodgin g to recreation, health, sports, travelling and event management. Therefore, role of HRD in recruitment, placement and training is very important. Retaining and attracting talents to businesses is a challenge to the industry. The tourism industry has successfully weathered the European financial crisis. Economic growth in the developing countries is expected to help industry’s growth. Convergence of technology and emergence of social networks have acted as a catalyst for the business growth

Analysis of Video “The World is Flat” Essay Example for Free

Analysis of Video â€Å"The World is Flat† Essay Key issues or Problems in the video: The title The World is Flat was taken from a statement by Nandan Nilekani, the former Infosys (an Indian IT company) CEO. It seems like if hadnt met Nandan then he wouldnt have even written this book. He talks about Americans and the developing world but says almost nothing about Africa, Europe Australia. The World is flat applies better to people with similar kind of economic conditions. In developing world, a big portion of population is poor or much below poverty line as per American standard. Their first challenge is access to food and Education. How could they be part of level playing field and make this world flat. Friedman says first that Nineteenth century belonged to English, Twentieth Century to USA and Twenty first Century to China. Friedman argues that latest age of globalization will be spearheaded by Individuals. He just made this assumption after meeting the cab driver in Budapest Peruvian Dishware seller who have their own websites. The percentage of people doing their own business like this is still extremely low to claim that the era belongs to them. It feels like an exaggeration. Its conflicting that on one hand, he says 21st century belongs to China and on the other hand, he says latest age of globalization (which is now) will be spearheaded by Individuals. I can’t accept his methods and question his research and interview process. Friedman is stating something without actually based on real documented facts, but on talks with friends and CEOs he visits. By what it leaves out, it does nothing more than misinform the people around the World. In the end, he talks about Green New Clean energy which kind of feel out of context from the main topic. Critique of video, Supporting arguments, rebuttals of ideas: I think there is a lot to criticize about the Video â€Å"The World is Flat†. Friedmans view of the globalized world is often obsessed with the successful multinational corporations of India. In the video he talks about individuals or â€Å"free agents†, but being a free agent is riskier. Free agents will not have fixed salary and health care benefits (Source: Brown, C.V.). If there is a free agent in India, he can’t work for American company without Social Security Number for Tax purposes. 90% of the worlds telephone calls, Internet traffic, and investments are local, suggesting that this Video has overstated the trends. His talk of a new flat world  where information, money, ideas, and people can move worldwide faster than before is unreal, we just see a fraction of what he describes globalization (Refer Source:wiki). Globalization causes unemployment here in America. It is shipping jobs outside America where its easy to find cheap labor. The winners will be capitalists worldwide causing income inequality everywhere. This would imply that Globalization will make the world NON-Flat instead. He talks about mashing the two specializations together which doesn’t always give the better result. Actions I would take next and why or personal experience dealing with the issues: The video presents more of an American perspective. Friedmans work history has been mostly with The NY Times, and has definitely affected the way due to which he thinks this way. I would have liked his ideas in a more inclusive voice to show the whole World’s perspective. I would encourage fair trade instead of free trade. If we put his claims to test against documented facts. It will not pass. I would have liked more research and references. World will be actually a level playing field when everybody will have a fair opportunity to Education Resource of Technology. If I make a website and start selling say â€Å"Baseball bats†. First of all, there will be a Brand position issue that is why would people come to me instead of going to Store like â€Å"Sports Authority† or so where they can try and test things before buying. Secondly, In real world, its hard to be an Individual and manage the whole thing like getting the stuff made in foreign countries, handle the custom portion, get it shipped etc. on your own. Sources: (2014, May 9). The World is Flat. Retrieved Jun 7, 2011 from Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_World_Is_Flat Brown, C.V., Dehayes, D.W., Hoffer, J.A., Martin, E.W., Perkins, W.C. Exploring Music Trading :: Essays Papers

Exploring Music Trading Background The recording of live music goes back over a century to the beginnings of audio recording technology itself. The organized recording and trading of a band's live shows by devoted fans, however, is generally traced back to the late '60s or early '70s. The first band which allowed and encouraged such activity was, of course, the Grateful Dead. Although the Dead never had a true radio hit, they were able to become the most consistently successful touring act of all time in no small part by allowing their fans to record and then trade (but never sell) copies of each of their live shows. Both the library and music trading communities may find themselves under profit-minded assault in the present and near future. By the time the Grateful Dead called it a career in 1995 with the death of guitarist and guru Jerry Garcia, a number of other bands had taken notice and were emulating the practice of allowing audience taping and trading. Prominent among these bands were first-wave "HORDE" (named for a successful festival tour) or "jambands" such as Phish and Blues Traveler. Despite the lack of MTV or radio support, Phish managed to gross over $20 million per year from their tours in the late '90s. The band consistently sold out venues for multi-day runs, while MTV-friendly bands were playing in front of half-full houses. While there is no real estimate of the number of touring bands today which allow audience taping and trading, a rough guess would place the low end at well over a hundred (given that 80-taper friendly bands were at the High Sierra Music Festival last summer, and at least an equal number were not). Many of these bands now allow, encourage or initiate the posting of their shows to var ious online sites such as www.archive.org (a must-see site for all library types, not just for the excellent live shows contained therein), usually in SHN or FLAC formats, where they are available for free download to anyone with a high-speed connection. Given the harsh attitude of the major recording labels (as expressed through the Recording Industry Association of America's various peer-to-peer lawsuits) toward "unauthorized" distribution of copyrighted recordings on the ground that it damages the fortunes of their artists [author's note: one should be properly skeptical of any record company claims of interest in their artists' well being], why, then would bands allow the essentially free distribution of live shows?

Health Care and Communication Essay

How does effective communication incorporate the basic elements of communication? Christopher Marlowe’s Dr. Faustus and Modern Psychology...

Christopher Marlowe’s Dr. Faustus and Modern Psychology Due to the fact that I recently finished reading Spirit and Will by Gerald May, I find my perception of Christopher Marlowe’s Dr. Faustus filtered through that book. May, a psychiatrist from the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation in Washington, D.C., makes a rather courageous attack on a sacred cow, modern psychology. He asserts that Psychology is fundamentally objective, secular, and willful whereas the core identity of religion is mysterious, spiritual, and willing (10). He criticizes religion for having sold out to psychology in its attempt to remain relevant. Like Dr. Faustus, we have pursued knowledge with a passion in order to master ourselves and our environment.†¦show more content†¦But instead of yielding himself to God, Dr. Faustus dreams of godlike power; it is his way of responding to the religious longing within him. He is not satisfied to be a successful and famous physician; he would conquer death itself, enter into a world of absolute power. Acco rding to May, modern psychology also ignores our spiritual longing, believing that expanding knowledge can take its place. Dr. Faustus turns to magic to satisfy his lust for power. I find it fascinating that May discusses in quite some detail function of magic in his chapter entitled Encounter with Evil. Whereas superstition implies a kind of childlike pleading with God--an attempt at manipulation--magic, witchcraft, and sorcery hold that assumption that individual human will can through various means actually control and manage supernatural power (285). The root meaning of magic refers to mastery. It represents a defiant challenge to the ultimate mysteries of life. It is ironic that both Dr. Faustus and modern psychology receive the knowledge and power they desire only to find that it results in mediocrity and boredom. A leveling of all difficulties cuts out the agony but also the ecstasy of life. G.K. Chesterton tells the story of two boys, Paul and Peter, playing in their front garden which was about the same size as the dinner table (1).
